General Info

The 2008 Mason Dixon Stampede, is the official SASS N. E. Regional Championship of Cowboy Action Shooting.

The match will be held at the Thurmont Conservation and Sportsman's Club (TCSC) in Thurmont, Maryland from October 2 through October 5, 2008. Directions to TCSC.

There will be side matches, team shoots, posse shoots, a 3 Stage blast, RO Classes, the N. E. Regional Mounted Championship, a Territorial Governors Meeting, camping, and a Saturday Banquet along with tons of fun and Cowboy Action Shooing!

Our targets are big and close and stages will be designed to be easily understood. There is no need to make your shooting fantasy a memory contest.

If you cannot participate in the main match, we have a conventioneer entry that allows you to participate in all of the events except the main match. All conventioneers, main match and mounted shooters must be SASS members, in good standing, in order to participate.

SASS rules will apply and all SASS categories will be recognized.

The public is invited to attend free of charge but, we do ask that you bring ear and eye protection.

Applications for shooters, vendors and sponsors are available through the links on this page. Should you have any questions, that are not answered by the web site, use the contacts listed on the various forms.

For those that like to camp, we have some primitive camping sites with no hookups as well as plenty of camp sites complete with water and electricity. Our club house has showers. We also have a dumping station. With the historical Monocacy River flowing past the campsites, it is a wonderful setting, with a large star filled sky at night. Located 30 minutes south of Gettysburg Pennsylvania, the area is rich in historical sights, yet far away from the congestion of Washington, DC.

Please come and renew old friendships, visit some of our country's civil war history and have fun shooting our fantasy game!

Mason Dixon Stampede Covenants:

Unless stated otherwise in the specific stage instructions, the following covenants will apply:

* Shotguns may be loaded on the move but the action must be left open until you reach the proper shooting position (basketball travel rule is in effect). Adherence to the 170 will be enforced.

* Shooters have the option to make up shotgun misses, in any order.

* Handguns may be drawn and holstered on the move. Adherence to the 170 will be enforced.

* The term "Make it safe" means all long guns are pointed in a safe direction, with the action open and cleared.

* All handguns are shot per your shooting category and returned to the holsters.

* The largest shot size permitted is 7 ½.

* On horizontal long gun rests, the rear of the trigger guard on a rifle or shotgun must be on the rest. Only the remaining butt stock can be hanging over the rest top.

* On animal type rests, only one gun can be staged per side.

* Rifle and pistol rounds over the berm are a match DQ.

* Any live round, in any firearm, that makes it to the unloading table is a 10 second safety.

* If you have a question about whether your equipment is SASS legal, see the match director before you shoot your first stage.

* There is no hip shooting of any firearms.

* Scoring is done using a Rank Point method. Shooters must initial their scores, on the master score sheet, before leaving the stage. It is the shooters responsibility to verify the raw and total time recorded for that stage. Beyond that, only input errors will be corrected.

* Interpersonal conflicts will not be tolerated.
