Match Information

TCSC holds United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) matches on the fourth Sunday of the month for the season. USPSA started as IPSC (International Practical Shooting Confederation) with roots in defensive pistol shooting. It has evolved into a fast-paced sport using pistols, rifles and shotguns. In the US, matches are held by affiliated clubs under the USPSA banner and at Thurmont, the club is TCSC USPSA. For more information about USPSA check out their website: USPSA.ORG

For a USPSA match you will need a modern pistol or Pistol Caliber Carbine (PCC) which is safe and serviceable. The caliber must be 9mm or larger to score. Pistol can be a revolver or a semiautomatic and you will need a holster which is worn at belt level that completely covers the trigger guard. It must retain your pistol during a run. Holster retention tests are sometimes performed. You will need 4 or more reliable magazines or speed loaders. Most matches are about 150 rounds (more or less) and contain over six or more stages. Bring extra ammo in case you are required to re-shoot a stage. Targets include both paper and steel and some targets are dynamic (Movers/Swingers). Various props are used such as doors, walls, barrels and other vision barriers. Competitors move through the courses of fire (stages) engaging targets as they become visible. Competitors need a balance between speed and accuracy.

Competitors must register via Practiscore. Registration on Practiscore will go live by 8:00 PM the Sunday prior to the match. Walk-in registration is strongly discouraged.

If you are new to USPSA, or new to shooting competition, please email the Match Director prior to registering.

Scores will be posted to Practiscore. Visitors and spectators are always welcome. Be sure to bring eye and ear protection.
